Top Tips on Photographing Fish

1.

Check focus on both sides of the pane you intend to shoot through..

2.

Make a hole in a black cloth just large enough for the camera lens to fit through and extend the cloth to cover the side of the tank stopping all reflections.

3.

Using a portable flashgun position this safely over the top of the tank lighting the fish from above. Dedicated flashguns will calculate the exposure for you otherwise do lots of tests.

4.

Leave the setup so the fish become accustomed to it

5.

Photograph the fish as they swim through the shot or pan along with them.

6.

Take lots of shots.
