Top Tips on Photographing Cats


You can also get some tips on successful photography of dogs, birds and fish.

1.

Try and photograph in a natural environment - in a familiar part of the house or the garden - when the cat is alert and interested in things around them.




2.

Use a background which contrasts against the colour of the cat.






3.

Use available light whenever possible - avoid flash as this can unsettle the cat and give a curious version of the "red eye" effect





4.

Stay calm and try not to excite the cat. Be patient!






5.

Try to fill the frame with the cat making it as big as possible.





6.

Concentrate on the eyes and the ears. Use a squeaky toy behind the camera to attract the cat's attention.






7.

Take lots of shots. Expect one or two good ones, at best, from a dozen.
